It is not possible to create a "normal" task from gantt after you click on any existing task.
When you enter the gantt view, without clicking on any task, by clicking "Create Task" button a "normal" task is created.
After that it is not possible to create any other "normal" task, as the button creates automatically a "subtask" of the task that is "highlighted".

That is correct behaviour, the create task button adds the new task under the selected task. You consider a new task a root/parent task? In that case select the upper project task.

Or do you prefer the create buttons adds new tasks always under the project node?

Okay, now that I tried again it works. However the other time we tried at your demo, when you highlighted the Project and clicked create instead of creating the right sequence (i.e. Project was 1 and tasks were 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc) it was creating a 2,3,4 sequence.
Now, it seems to work correctly.
