Our state of the art Gantt chart

Post by anonymousultimo »

I've read that it is now possible to export a gantt to msproject.
I've got a few questions about that.

Is it possible to add some subtasks as resource for msproject as well.
We use the gantt for showing personell a long with jobs in the same way as subtasks

Is is possible to configure additional columns in the left panel. Will they be exported as well, perhaps as a FillExtendedAttribute

Hi anonymousultimo,

Welcome to the Bryntum forum.

The new fields/columns added to the Bryntum Gantt won't be possible to export to MS Project yet, just the default fields available on MS Project, like: Task name, duration, etc.

I've created a feature request for this: https://github.com/bryntum/support/issues/2686

Thank you!

Best regards,
Fabio

Hello Fabio.

Thank you for creating the feature request on the second question.

Do you know whether it is possible to add some subtasks as resource for msproject as well.
We use the gantt for showing personell a long with jobs in the same way as subtasks

Hi anonymousultimo,

I am not sure if I understood your question. As I know you can add subtasks on the tree of MS Project (You can see when you export our MS Project exporter example, it opens on MS Project with "Setup web server" as task and "Install apache" as subtask for example).

Here you can see how to add subtask to MS Project: https://www.simonsezit.com/article/subtasks-and-summary-tasks-in-microsoft-project-free-tutorial/

Fabio

Hello Fabio,

I don't mean subtask, what i mean is resources. So personel that has been assigned to the subtasks.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-resources-to-your-project-1a744960-d960-426a-b687-e42ba3f6c0cb.

We show them in the same way as subtasks, but in the resources sheet in msproject you can also see the amount of work they have to do

Hi anonymousultimo,

I need a test case of your gantt. If you have a Bryntum gantt and want to export it (with these resources you mention) to MS Project please post your Bryntum Gantt code here. If you have a MS Project file (with these resources you mention) e want to convert to Bryntum Gantt, please post your MS Project file here then we will be able to help with your question. Thank you!

Best regards,
Fabio

Hello Fabio,

I've talked with our developers and they say it's difficult to give you our code.
I've been taking a deeper dive into de example and i see that assignments to resources (attributes in msproject xml) has been taken care of so you can skip that question for now
