Our state of the art Gantt chart

Post by SIM-LTD »

Hi

Following the post (viewtopic.php?f=52&t=12247)

When a Parent Task is empty (Summary Task) because children have been removed, then Dragging a task, from the Grid, and trying to Drop into it is impossible.

The only way, to allow the Drop, is to select this Empty Parent then select option "Add SubTask" and then the dropping becomes possible!! (Look the GIF)

Try this out by going to online demo (https://www.bryntum.com/examples/gantt/basic/)
Remove all the task from a Branch (Parent) then Drag one Task and try to Drop it into the empty parent
This won't work

For this case, just using indent would be much easier?

Hi,

Can you be more precise! What do you mean by "
unsing indent would be...
Did you try this case? Because If you have an empty parent task, then it is impossible to add a Task via "Drag & Drop" from the Grid.
Hence the question remains open; Why an empty Parent Task cannot receive any other task via the process "Grad & Drop" from the Grid?

We have the possibility to "indent" a task in Ext Gantt what translates to convert the task above it to parent and the current to subtask. You can see it in action here: https://www.bryntum.com/examples/gantt-for-extjs/advanced/#en

This feature will be released also for Bryntum Gantt in the next minor release.

Hi Saki

Thank you very much for your feedback. We believe the 'Indent' would be a nice feature.

Our fear is we do only expect that your overall process won't mess up our own process.
Because, as per our exchange regarding this post (viewtopic.php?f=52&t=12247) we have entirely reconceived the way to add: TASK / PARENT / CHILD / MILESTONE
So the user can easily add anything, and in the opposite of your way when adding an item, we do not duplicate the properties of the item from which the right-click was done. anyway...

Thus, we do hope that in the next release you did not change too much the core: Process used for the options Add "Above / Below / SubTask / ...". Otherwise, we might have some conflict or issue... We'll see

Thank you
