Hello Team,

We have the license for bryntum gantt and scheduler which is based on ExtJs and having version
6.1.14. Now we want to upgrade from ExtJs version to Javascript version and have couple of queries regarding the same. Please help us with the following queries.

  1. What are the licenses that is required for upgrading to Javascript version ?

  2. What are the technical steps that we need to follow for upgradation ?

  3. What are the advantages of upgrading to Javascript version in terms of performance ?

  4. What are the new features that we will be benefitted with the upgrade ?

  5. Does it remove any existing feature which might impact the application ?

  6. How long it might take to upgrade to the newer version ?

Great to hear you want to migrate!

  1. You need the EUL or OEM version of the Bryntum Gantt/Scheduler

  2. Many of the concepts in the new suite we made will feel very similar to the Ext JS versions. We have these guides to aid you:

https://bryntum.com/docs/scheduler/#Scheduler/guides/migration/extscheduler-to-bryntumscheduler.md
https://bryntum.com/docs/gantt/#Gantt/guides/migrating_from_extjs.md

  1. The new suite is much more performant since we now control the entire code base. No IE11 compatibility code / CSS which also helps a lot. You can compare easily

https://www.bryntum.com/examples/scheduler/bigdataset/

vs Ext JS:

https://www.bryntum.com/examples/scheduler-for-extjs/bigdataset/

  1. Too many to list here, but you'll see them featured in a demo here. https://bryntum.com/examples/scheduler and here https://bryntum.com/docs/scheduler/

  2. We have almost all features ported, you can see exactly which here. https://www.bryntum.com/products/scheduler/compare Is there any feature in particular that is important to you

  3. Hard to say, depends on how much code you wrote for the Ext JS versions - how many custom features you built etc. Anything from a week to a month depending on your scheduling app size

No special license required for migration, the EUL for the new versions you need can be purchased here:

https://www.bryntum.com/store/scheduler/
or

Thanks mats for the quick response!!

I had couple of more queries which are as follows.

Q1. In the scheduler migration documentation it has been mentioned that we need to include the following css files.

  <link rel="stylesheet" href="../../../build/scheduler.stockholm.css" id="bryntum-theme">
  <link rel="stylesheet" href="../../_shared/shared.css">
 <link rel="stylesheet" href="resources/app.css">

Where can I get these css files ?

Q2. After purchasing the license , where can I get the scheduler and gantt JS files ? Will I be able to find that under customerzone ?

  1. You can ignore shared.css (Bryntum demo styles) and app.css( demo specific styling). Just include scheduler.stockholm.css which is part of our SDK

  2. You can download from customer zone or just use NPM as described in our docs. https://bryntum.com/docs/gantt/#Gantt/guides/npm-repository.md

Mats, Hello again

Q1. I am not able to find these properties in the bryntum scheduler inside column config .
menuDisabled, xtype , headerId, iconCls

 Have these been renamed or removed in bryntum scheduler ?

Q2. Is it possible to do a trial migration from Ext Js to Bryntum so that we can identify the issues/benifits after the new upgrade ? If yes, then what's the process for trial migration?

Q1. I am not able to find these properties in the bryntum scheduler inside column config .

We have column type, there is no xtype.

See:
https://bryntum.com/docs/scheduler/#Grid/column/Column#config-icon

And:
https://bryntum.com/docs/scheduler/#Grid/column/Column#config-enableHeaderContextMenu

Q2. Is it possible to do a trial migration from Ext Js to Bryntum so that we can identify the issues/benifits after the new upgrade ? If yes, then what's the process for trial migration?

Yes just download a trial version from our website, it's valid for 45 days.

Thanks mats for the response!!

I had one more query .
Is it possible to run the scheduler on ExtJs and Gantt on JS version simultaneously in the same application ?
Will there be any compatibility issues ?
