I was also wondering if there are any suggestions on how to add a loading mask to the table? The data I am pulling in takes about 2-3 seconds, but I'd at least like for the ability to show that it is loading while I query for the new data.

Sure, just listen to the store events (load, beforeload) and show/hide mask then.
