Smartphone support

Post by Lukappa »

Hello,
I know you are developing your libs for tablet (I'm sorry but I had no enough time to test it intensively to give you an exhaustive feedback ).
But I write here some idea:

Do you plan to build a scheduler lib for smartphone screens?
It wuold be interesting to have a simple scheduler for small screens, maybe with these features:
  • Visible (locked) only in landscape mode (because of the small space)
  • Possibility to collapse the resources locked grid (to gain more space for events)
  • I think in a first version it could be without the event drag & drop feature because it's difficult to handle (this is my opinion, maybe I'm wrong)
  • D&D on the event could be replaced by an actionsheet with buttons like "move date/time" and "change resource"
I'm thinking other features and I will let you know.

Still not convinced it makes sense to render a schedule on an iPhone. Wouldn't a simple list of the booked events be sufficient? Drag drop would not work, and you'd only be able to see 4-5 rows I think. Haven't yet dug into this yet, so will check back once I have. Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming! :)

Hi Mats,
you are right... I'm not convinced too.
But as you can see, smartphone displays are going to be larger and larger (look at the new iphone for ex.)

For my target the scheduler could be a simple table (read-only) componed by small squares cells (20x20) representing 1 day of the calendar... of course this is only my customization... with time, minutes and hours it's different.

My suggestion is to transform the cells of scheduler as small as possibile (customizable), read only, with zoom by pinching and tap event... "only" this for now...
what do you think about it? :)

Maybe the view could be constrained to "landscape" mode to get more space...
Something like that: http://tidbits.com/resources/2011-10/ios5_weekview.png

It could be good to have the resource panel collapsable as well.

I have opened a new 3d where to talk about UI and concepts.
